What are you going to do with your writing?

A guy in a train argued with the train steward for some stupid reason. Back home he wrote about the incident in his blog, using some tough words about the steward. The train company gets to know that and sues the guy for calumny.

Last week, they went into court and the judge declared himself incompetent on that matter, because it is a press related offence (and in our country, those offences must be judged by another kind of court).

Interesting, isn't it : the judge considers that web 2.0 is a media assimilated to press. That would make us all bloggers journalists, right? Not necessarily good journalists, but that's another story.

It made me think of a blog post Seth Godin published last week about how the web has made us all able to publish our writing and be read by people all around the world. Here's how he concludes :
"The barriers are gone, the costs are zero. The question is: what are you going to do with your writing?"

I can certainly relate to that : being able to share my writing took me years. But now that we do not need an editor or a publisher anymore, the excuses are gone and only this very important question remains : what are we going to do with our writing?
